Belay’s senior management team has, on average, 27 years of buy- and sell-side real estate experience as principal investors and as senior management of institutional investment management firms and advisory firms actively involved in direct acquisitions, developments/redevelopments and asset management across all property sectors, as well as, in structuring and managing programmatic joint ventures and advising firms on strategic growth initiatives. The depth and breadth of experience includes significant workout related experience including asset level restructures as well as, corporate restructures.
Barry Chase is responsible for overseeing all investment activities for Belay Investment Group, LLC, and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He has more than 40 years of institutional real estate investment experience. Prior to co-founding AVP Advisors, LLC in 2004 (the predecessor firm to Belay), Mr. Chase held senior executive positions at Koll Development, Cushman Realty Corporation and CT Realty, where he directed more than $2.5 billion in commercial real estate transactions through multiple market cycles. During his career Mr. Chase has been involved in all aspects of the real estate value chain, including deal origination, acquisitions/dispositions, asset management, leasing, management of development activities, debt restructuring, and management and repositioning of venture capital corporate-level investments.
Mr. Chase earned his J.D. from the University of San Fernando and is a member of the California State Bar Association (inactive), Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
Amy Ko is involved in all aspects of investment strategy and execution for Belay Investment Group, LLC, including operating partner underwriting and mentoring. She is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and oversees finance, accounting and reporting, operations and compliance, along with investor relations. With more than 25 years of institutional real estate experience, Ms. Ko spends a significant portion of her time mentoring Belay’s operating partners in fund management best practices. Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Ms. Ko was a First Vice President of Finance at Arden Realty, then Southern California’s largest publicly traded office REIT, where she developed reporting infrastructure and led corporate finance for the $5 billion company. Prior to joining Arden in 1997, Ms. Ko served as a member of the audit team of Ernst & Young, LLP, where she earned her CPA.
Ms. Ko received her B.S. (Accounting) from the University of Southern California and is a member of National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF).
Eliza Bailey is a Managing Principal of Belay Investment Group involved in all aspects of investment strategy and execution in addition to manager mentoring, capital formation, and overall business development and strategy. Ms. Bailey has been actively involved in the real estate industry since 1999, investing directly in real estate assets, selecting emerging managers and asset managing investment portfolios. Prior to becoming a partner at Belay Investment Group, Ms. Bailey was a Managing Director at Partners Group where she built a global real estate debt practice that invested over $1.1 billion of capital during her tenure from 2007 to 2014. Ms. Bailey also served as the chief underwriter and acquisition officer for approximately $350 million of global direct equity and debt real estate investments across various property types. Additionally, Ms. Bailey was a member of the Real Estate Investment Committee at Partners Group, where she participated in the due diligence and investment process of over $2.5 billion in investment activity. During her time at Pension Consulting Alliance from 2002 to 2007, Ms. Bailey was a portfolio manager for large institutional clients where she oversaw portfolio construction, monitored performance, and conducted in-depth due diligence on investment opportunities across all risk profiles, global geographies, property types and investment structures. Ms. Bailey started her real estate career as the founder of Property Solutions Enterprises, a private investment business focusing on residential real estate where she structured investment opportunities, completed property level due diligence, created expansive fee and revenue models and conducted market research.
Ms. Bailey received both her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Business Administration in Finance and Management from the University of Oregon.
Jake Loughridge is involved in all aspects of Belay Investment Group’s portfolio management of owned assets, as well as sourcing and evaluating new investments, business plan investment execution and analysis of potential operating partners and their underlying investments. Mr. Loughridge has over 17 years of real estate experience focusing primarily on acquisitions, asset management and development and has been responsible for and managed over $1 billion in acquisitions and redevelopments at such companies as Kearny Real Estate Company, CT Realty, and Mariners Companies. Prior to joining Belay in 2016, Mr. Loughridge was a Vice President at CapRock Partners where he both managed the firm’s acquisition process and executed all asset and project management functions for a $350 million portfolio. While at CapRock Partners, Mr. Loughridge was instrumental in doubling the firm’s assets under management and transitioning its investor base from high net worth investor to institutional equity.
Mr. Loughridge received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California, where he graduated with honors. Mr. Loughridge is a member of the southern California chapter of NAIOP and is actively involved within its Young Professionals Group. Mr. Loughridge volunteers his time with UCLA, USC and NAIOP in teaching and mentoring students and young professionals.
Kelsey Harstad is involved in all aspects of Belay Investment Group’s investment activities, focusing on sourcing and evaluating new investments, investment execution, and asset and portfolio management. Ms. Harstad has over 15 years of real estate industry experience in acquisitions, debt origination, joint ventures, fund investments, asset management, multifamily property management, client development and accounting/reporting. Prior to joining Belay, Ms. Harstad was a Senior Vice President at Aulder Capital, a vertically integrated multifamily value-add investment company, where she co-led the Acquisitions team and managed the Property Management business line. During her tenure Aulder invested approximately $500 million of gross asset value via 15 acquisitions encompassing over 3,000 units across seven states. Ms. Harstad also led the Social Impact Initiative at Aulder and was a founding board member of the Aulder Community Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides resources (both capital and volunteering) to communities in need. Prior to Aulder, she was a member of Stockbridge Real Estate’s Client Relations team with primary responsibilities for capital raising and new business development. Prior to joining Stockbridge, she spent seven years on the Investments and Asset Management team for Partners Group based out of the San Francisco and New York offices, where she committed over $1 billion of capital to real estate funds and invested over $100 million in JV equity and debt originations. Ms. Harstad began her career at Ernst & Young, LLP, where she was on the Audit & Assurance Team and became a Certified Public Accountant.
Ms. Harstad holds a B.A. in Business Administration / Accounting from the University of Washington.
Cameron Chase is involved in portfolio management of owned assets, as well as sourcing, performing due diligence, and analysis on potential operating partners and their underlying investments. Mr. Chase has been actively involved in the real estate industry over the past six years. Prior to joining Belay, Mr. Chase was an Analyst at Crocker Partners, a Florida based owner and developer of value-add and Class A office buildings in the Southeastern US with a portfolio of more than 6 million square feet representing $1.4 billion invested. During his tenure, Mr. Chase underwrote, performed due diligence on, and acquired 500k square feet of real estate. Additionally, Mr. Chase collaborated on asset management of a regional portfolio including the preparation of quarterly business plans and analysis of major decisions on the portfolio. Mr. Chase started his career with CBRE as an intern focused on sale and lease transactions for industrial properties in Greater Los Angeles.
Mr. Chase received his Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies from Duke University and is a member of NAIOP and ULI.
Sandra Sajuan is involved in all aspects of finance, accounting and reporting for Belay Investment Group, LLC. Ms. Sajuan spends a significant amount of her time ensuring the development, implementation and management of accounting and reporting, including investor reporting, and overseeing cash management. Ms. Sajuan has more than 22 years of accounting, reporting and operating experience in the real estate industry including public and private companies, namely Arden Realty Partners, Inc., Brentwood Capital Partners and Younan Properties, Inc. During her career, Ms. Sajuan was responsible for all aspects of accounting and reporting on the corporate, investor and operational level; development and implementation of accounting process and procedures to adhere to institutional standards and conversion of books from tax basis to GAAP. Prior to joining the firm in 2015, Ms. Sajuan was the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis at Ares Management where she developed their reporting and forecasting models with over $400 million of revenues generated by over 100 investment vehicles. During this time, Ms. Sajuan provided guidance to Ares’ accounting group as the firm transitioned from a private to public company. Additionally, Ms. Sajuan served as an independent consultant to several real estate firms to assist in the development and implementation of enhanced accounting processes and internal controls.
Ms. Sajuan received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from DeVry University.
